Guides & operations

Operate your installation

Metis consists of the web interface and background components needed for tasks and tools. The host must remain running for background tasks to continue.

1 min readUpdated: October 2026

Step by step

  1. 01

Check running agent tasks before maintenance.

  2. 02

Back up the configured data directory, workspace, and required configuration.

  3. 03

Use the update method for your installation type.

  4. 04

After changes, test sign-in, model detection, and a small task.

Back up and restore

  • Consider the data directory, workspace, and configuration together.
  • Test a restore on a separate installation first.
  • Adjust paths and user mappings on the new host.

Domain and HTTPS

  • The browser must be able to reach the configured public address.
  • For reverse proxies, account for WebSockets and suitable upload limits.
  • Check remote client connectivity to the public Metis address separately.

Resources and queues

  • Watch CPU, RAM, and system load in Monitor.
  • Queued tasks may be held by concurrency and memory limits.
  • Higher concurrency increases resource requirements.

Good to know

  • Store secrets separately with appropriate access permissions.
  • A backup is dependable only after a successful restore test.
